Arts Education Data Project
The NYS Education Department has participated in the Arts Education Data Project since 2015 and has provided arts course enrollment data from the 2016-2023 academic years for all PK-12 arts courses. Additional data is sourced by the data project from theÌý. Course enrollment data has been visualized by theÌýÌýwhich is a collaboration between State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (), andÌý.
Request for Information (RFI) for Building Arts-Focused School Communities: A Request for Innovative Partnerships and Programs
The ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ (¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) on Building Arts Focused School Communities—A Request for Innovative Partnerships and Programs. ¿ìè³É°æÊÓƵ is seeking information from qualified organizations, institutions, educators and experts in arts education and community engagement to support the development of comprehensive guidance for establishing and sustaining arts-focused school and district communities.
Responses to this RFI may be used to gather information on innovative ideas, proven strategies, and model partnerships to inform the creation of resources that will help local educational agencies strengthen arts culture, improve student access to arts programs, and foster long-term program sustainability.

The Department defines an "arts-focused school community" as a school environment that actively integrates arts education across curricula, builds sustainable partnerships with community arts organizations, and fosters a culture of artistic engagement that reflects students' diverse cultural backgrounds. This initiative is informed by the Department’s , Learning Standards for the Arts and the Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education Framework, emphasizing equity, sustainability, and the integration of arts with academic learning and community resources​

The Department envisions sustainability through multiple strategies, including:

- Providing guidance documents and professional development on this guidance, to support school and district leaders in maintaining arts-focused initiatives.
