AIS Frequently Asked Questions
鈥婽he claim, along with the supporting documents, must be submitted by October 17, 2024.鈥 听
鈥媃7 is the grant year indicator. AIS is in its 7th鈥痑nnual cycle since its introduction in 2015.听
鈥婽he AIS grant is reimbursable.听 Schools incur expenses throughout the year to address academic intervention needs.听 Eligible expenses (with appropriate documentation) can then be submitted for review and reimbursement. 听
鈥婣s it depends on several factors, including the number of applications, the quality of the applications, office staffing, etc., we are unable to give an accurate timeline for the review process.听 If after initial review, 快猫成版视频 has additional questions or identifies a need for more information or clarification, 快猫成版视频 may issue a Request for Information (RFI). Applicants are typically given 30 days to provide the additional information or clarification requested in the RFI. 快猫成版视频 reserves the right to issue as many separate RFI鈥檚 as are needed for 快猫成版视频 to come to a determination about the application. Additionally, 快猫成版视频 may elect to conduct an on-site review at the applicant鈥檚 proposed location.听
鈥婩ollowing the review, your school would receive an autogenerated message of approval followed by auto-generated messages indicating the reimbursement and when it will be made (generally 7-10 business days from approval.)听 听
鈥婣 claim submission is not a guaranteed reimbursement, institutions should not operate in a financial deficit awaiting AIS reimbursement.听 Please note, that the reimbursement process can take up to a year.听 快猫成版视频 encourages schools to plan accordingly and be fiscally responsible.听 听
鈥媁ith AIS, there are no missed opportunities.听听 Unless the school has closed, the allocations accumulate from year to year.听 Any unused allocations roll over into the next grant cycle.听
鈥婭f a partial payment was approved, it means that certain claims were deemed ineligible. Please do not resend the invoice for a second review.听
Yes, proof of receipt would be required in the form of detailed invoices or invoices with supplemental descriptions of the expenditures. The invoices must show that delivery or services were provided to the school address/location that is listed in the 快猫成版视频 SEDREF system.听
Pooled funding is permissible for affiliated schools that share Payee Information (Payee name and OSC Vendor ID). To clearly communicate the institution鈥檚 pooling intent during the submission process, each eligible school must file a separate application and upload a Pooling Form.听 Please see the AIS Y7 Pooling resource for additional information and requirements.听
Yes, pooled funding can be used to cover collective expenses.听 AIS Y7 Pooling resource for additional information and requirements.听听
The purchase window for the Y7 cycle ends on June 30, 2024.听听听听
Yes.
As the grade 3-8 NYS Assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics were not administered in 2020-2021 school year, the Y6 AIS Allocations utilized the 2019-2020 BEDS data (replicated the data from AIS Y5).听 While these assessments were administered in 2021-2022 school year, the educational landscape was still in a state of transition, so 快猫成版视频 provided an additional year of assessment reporting flexibility as it relates to AIS calculations. More specifically:
- If a school did not submit assessment data in Y7 but did in Y5, the institution's Y7 assessment figures were retained for Y7
- If a school submitted assessment data in Y7 but the number of AIS-qualifying students was less than or equal to the number of AIS-qualifying students in Y5, the institution's Y5 assessment figures were retained for Y7.
The annual AIS allocation methodology in Y7 is based in the 2021-2022 school year assessment reporting. The 2021-2022 school year was greatly affected by the COVID-pandemic; therefore, some flexibility was permitted for AIS Grant reporting. Reporting flexibility, coupled with post-pandemic student performance (in this case, low performance), resulted in a 50% increase in the AIS Student Total (statewide). As the AIS grant appropriation remained the same for Y7, for some institutions, the higher NYS AIS Student Total resulted in a decrease of Y7 AIS Allocation funding.听 In other words, the same pot of funds needed to feed more mouths. For additional information on Y7 Allocations & Calculations, please visit the AIS Guidance & Resource Documents website and open the Y7 AIS Guidance document.
