Permanent Adoption of Regulations

At the March 2025 meeting, the Board of Regents adopted听regulations relating to the evaluation of classroom teachers and building principals necessary to implement Education Law 搂3012-e starting in the 2024-2025 school year.

Education Law 搂3012-e and STEPS

The enactment of Education Law 搂3012-e provides an opportunity for school districts and BOCES to reflect on their current educator evaluation practices and to develop new locally designed systems consistent with 快猫成版视频鈥檚 vision and shared goal of supporting teacher and leader development across the career continuum. The STEPS system is designed to support all educators鈥 professional growth as a part of a comprehensive, systematic approach to advancing excellence in teaching and learning.听

Each local educational agency (LEA) will have the flexibility to design a Standards-based Educator Evaluation and Professional Support (STEPS) plan that reflects their expectations for teaching and learning and school leadership while maintaining fidelity to our State鈥檚听Teaching Standards and Educational Leadership Standards, and the听Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework.
