The Office of Early Learning and the Office of Cultural Education Announce Cultural Connections
• The Office of Early Learning, in collaboration with the Office of Cultural Education, is delighted to introduce Cultural Connections, a framework and digital resource kit offering guidance on how to plan and offer cultural education experiences to students, containing immersive resources for classrooms serving Prekindergarten to Grade 3 students.
• The Cultural Connections framework is rooted in cultural education and includes organized programs and learning experiences in the arts & humanities, natural sciences, and history & heritage through cultural experiences.
• It provides cost-free resources that can be utilized in any community, offering students a broader insight into the world through cultural experiences.
• This resource recommends ways schools and collaborating partners can connect with cultural institutions for class trips and/or learning experiences that can be brought right into classrooms to make rich connections with New York State.
• Cultural Connections emphasizes an Inquiry-Based Learning instructional method that engages students in the learning process. This approach encourages them to actively participate by asking questions, making decisions, and conducting explorations to uncover new discoveries.
• It aims to ignite a passion for culture in young children by providing engaging, hands-on, immersive learning experiences.
• It aligns with the New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards.
